Term 1 Charity Round-up

The beginning of this academic year saw the UWMHC's charity efforts reach new heights. This year we chose to support the charity, MIND whose ethos comes close to the hearts of many members of the club. To get involved follow this link to their website:

Week 4 saw the beginning of November, which meant the UWMHC's various attempts at growing facial hair for the Movember foundation. With the combined effort of the boys we managed to raise the 3rd highest amount in the university, raising an astounding £1,719.82 for the Movember foundation in support of men dying prematurely. Not only this but 2 of our members were in the top 10 highest raisers in the university. A big shout to Toby Baker for raising £278.40 by himself!! Please take a look at their website to see how you can support this intiative too:

Week 7 saw the UWHC Charity Quiz which was done together with UWLHC in aid of each of our respective charities to see who were the smartest members from our clubs. With rounds ranging from music, geography and a Christmas round to get everyone in the Christmas spirit, we raised a phenomenal £87.60 each for our respective charities! We love building bridges.

Week 9 came around, the biggest week in the charity calender for the UWMHC. Firstly in support of Pride Week the rainbow laces came out in aid of kicking homophobia out of sport. More importantly though it was the week of CMD: Lets Dance for Sport Relief! Years of hurt saw the boys confidence knocked but with a huge effort not only did we dance amazingly. The UWMHC won!!! The beginning of a new legacy as the CMD trophy came home. They helped CMD raise over £2500 fo Sport Relief.

All in all it has been a big first term in the charity perspective, I have to say a massive thank you to everyone who got invloved in the UWMHC, with next year loking forward to some more amazing charity events, including a talent show! Merry Christmas and a happy charitable new year.
