This year, The University of Warwick’s Men’s Hockey Club has formed a partnership with Teach First, a charity working to end educational inequality. Both Teach First & UWMHC agree that children from low income families should not be at a disadvantage at school and in life, and are therefore working together to get inspirational role models into schools in the local area and beyond.
Through sports sessions and joint on-campus activities, we will be inspiring school children, and Warwick students to improve their education, enhance their employability and progress their careers. We are hoping that many Warwick students will become inspirational coaches, teachers and leaders, and help children achieve their potential. Teach First recruits graduates for the Leadership Development Programme (LDP), a paid graduate programme that combines outstanding teacher training, leadership development, coaching, and the opportunity to network and accelerate their careers in the education sector and with corporate partners including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Accenture, Goldman Sachs, The Civil Service and Aldi.
We are excited to see what this partnership holds and hope that together we can tackle educational inequality and enhance the employability of the members of the UWMHC!
Warwick Sport is the umbrella organisation for all sport at the University of Warwick.
The club regularly teams up with Warwick sport for many purposes, most recently for the organising of additional club fitness sessions (at 7.30am, Tuesday mornings. Thanks Tom Metcalf!)
